Masamitsu Araki
Artist. born in 1981. Based in Kyoto
Using sound experience and fieldwork as the starting point, he constructs sound spaces that question the meaning of sound's existence through his unique interpretation and approach to acoustics and acoustic ecology. The works, which emphasize the creativity of the listening environment, are presented in a wide variety of forms, including theater pieces, installations, performances, and touring works, utilizing sound sources and media that anecdotally mix documentation and fiction.
He is also a member of the recording group ARCHIVES PAY and the music group NEW MANUKE.
He also collaborates frequently as a sound designer.
Saison Fellow I of the Saison Foundation for the fiscal year 2023.
